Perform professional stitching and re-stitching on bags, including damaged, loose, or broken seams.
Carry out inner lining replacement, including removing damaged lining, preparing replacement materials, fitting, and stitching.
Perform bag handle replacement and repair, including removal and installation of new handles while maintaining the original construction and appearance.
Repair and replace bag straps, shoulder straps, tabs, loops, and other leather or fabric components.
Carry out general repairs on bags, including:
Seam and stitching repairs
Lining repairs and replacement
Handle and strap repairs/replacement
Zipper and slider repairs/replacement
Pocket and panel repairs
Hardware and fastening repairs
Minor structural and shape corrections
Work with different materials, including leather, fabric, canvas, suede, and synthetic materials.
Assess bags before repair and determine the appropriate repair method, materials, and level of intervention required.
Match stitching, thread, lining, leather, and other materials as closely as possible to the original.
Handle premium and luxury bags with care to ensure repairs do not compromise the original design, structure, or finishing.
Operate sewing machines and other repair tools and equipment safely and effectively.
Perform hand stitching where required, particularly for areas that cannot be repaired using a machine.
Conduct quality checks on completed repairs to ensure proper stitching, alignment, finishing, and overall appearance.
Minimize rework and ensure all repairs meet the required quality standards and turnaround times.
Support and guide junior technicians on complex repair jobs and technical techniques.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe repair workstation.
Key Skills and Experience
3+ years of hands-on experience in bag repair, leather goods repair, or a similar technical role.
Strong expertise in bag stitching and sewing.
Proven experience in inner lining replacement.
Proven experience in bag handle replacement and repair.
Strong knowledge of bag construction and different repair techniques.
Experience working with leather, fabric, canvas, suede, and other bag materials.
Ability to perform both machine and hand stitching.
Experience with zipper, strap, hardware, and general bag repairs.
Strong attention to detail and precision.
Experience working on premium or luxury bags is highly preferred.
Ability to independently assess and complete complex bag repairs from start to finish.
